# Rewards bar

> The free-shipping and rewards progress bar — tiers, free gifts, confetti, and per-market thresholds.

The **Promotions progress bar** is the drawer's biggest motivator. It
shows shoppers how close they are to a reward — "Spend \$12 more for free
shipping" — and fills up as they add items. Find it under **Body →
Promotions progress bar**.

## How rewards unlock

First choose **Promotions unlocked by**:

* **Cart total** — rewards unlock at spending amounts (e.g. \$50)
* **Item quantity** — rewards unlock at item counts (e.g. 3 items)

You can also tick **Exclude specific products from being counted** and
select products (like gift cards) that shouldn't count toward the goal.

## Tiers

Each tier is one reward. Click **Add tier** to build a ladder. Every
tier has:

| Field                   | What it does                                                                                                     |
| ----------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Title                   | The reward's name, e.g. "Free shipping" — shown in the bar's messages                                            |
| Reward type             | **Shipping discount**, **Order discount**, or **Free gift**                                                      |
| Min. price / Min. items | The spend or quantity that unlocks it                                                                            |
| Near text               | The message when this is the next reward ("Spend `{{amount}}` more…") — optional, falls back to the default text |
| Earned text             | The message right after unlocking — optional, falls back to the unlocked text                                    |

Reward type details:

* **Shipping discount** — free shipping is applied automatically at
  checkout.
* **Order discount** — set the **Discount type** (**Percentage** or
  **Fixed amount**) and the value.
* **Free gift** — click **Select free gift product** and pick the gift.
  It's added to the cart automatically when the tier unlocks, and
  removed if the cart drops below the threshold.

<Tip>
  A proven ladder: free shipping at your average order value, and a free
  gift about 30–40% above it. The first tier feels reachable, the second
  stretches the order.

## Messages

Three global messages drive the bar (each tier can override its own):

* **Default text** — shown while working toward the next reward
* **Unlocked text** — shown right after a reward unlocks
* **All promotions unlocked text** — shown when everything is earned

Use the shortcode picker to insert live values: amount needed for the
next reward, next reward title/number, unlocked reward title/number, and
total number of rewards.

<Tip>
  Turn on **Celebrate with confetti when a reward is unlocked** — a
  small moment of delight that makes the unlock feel like a win.

## Different thresholds per country

Selling in several currencies? Under the market overrides you can
require a different amount or quantity for shoppers in specific
**Shopify Markets** — for example \$50 in the US but €45 in Europe.
Everywhere else keeps the default tiers. Use the preview's **Previewing
market** selector to check each market's bar.

## Use cases & examples

## Troubleshooting

  <Accordion title="The free gift didn't appear (or won't go away)">
    Gifts are added when the tier unlocks and removed when the cart
    drops below the threshold. If the gift is missing, check the gift
    product is in stock and published to your Online Store. Excluded
    products also don't count toward the threshold — check your
    exclusion list.

  <Accordion title="The bar shows the wrong amount for some shoppers">
    They're probably in a Shopify Market with an override (or without
    one you expected). Check the market overrides and use the
    **Previewing market** selector to verify.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="The reward unlocked but checkout shows no discount">
    Shipping and order discounts apply at checkout, not in the cart
    rows. If it's genuinely missing at checkout, re-save the cart and
    test again — then contact support if it persists.
